Robert Davis- 6th Grade Math
After working in corporate America for nearly 16 years, I went back to school to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education. I graduated with a concentration in Math and Science, and I am now preparing to enter my fifth year teaching sixth grade math. I try to bring real-world experiences into the classroom to make learning meaningful and encourage student engagement. I am a highly effective teacher and have been involved with the Teacher Effectiveness Initiative for the past two years in the role of a Learning Coach in addition to my responsibilities as a classroom teacher. I enjoy golfing, college basketball and Alabama football. I am excited about the many opportunities in the coming year at the Smith STEAM Academy.

Kay Obenchain- 7th and 8th Grade Math
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education K–8 from Crichton College and a Master’s Degree in Education from Union University. I am highly qualified to teach all subjects K–8; however, I have dedicated my ten years of teaching to middle school education. I’ve served as Master Teacher for the past two years and Learning Coach for the three years prior to that. I also had the honor of being awarded Teacher of the Year building level in 2012. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two beautiful daughters, son-in-law, and my wonderful grandson.

Julian White- Algebra 1/ STEM
Julian White was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee in a household of educators, where he discovered a passion for teaching. Julian received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Memphis, where he was a five-year member of the Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band. While at the University of Memphis, Julian discovered his talent and love for Mathematics when he was asked to tutor peers and local middle and high school students. Julian started his career teaching percussion, history, and mathematics at the Bowie Learning Center, a school for gifted and learning disabled students. Julian’s experience served him well in his two years teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry at Cordova High School. Julian also enjoys playing and teaching percussion groups such as Gateway Indoor Percussion in St. Louis, MO and The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from Chicago, IL. When he isn’t teaching or drumming, Julian is spending time with his dog, Ollie and family in Germantown TN. Julian is very excited to join STEAM where he can share his passion for Music and Mathematics.
